good books for teens

hi,i teach 14-16 year olds english in switzerland, and am looking for good suggestions for books to read. i find the standard esl "readers" usually too contrived or watered down so much that they lack the punch of the original story. i want to read books that they will remember, and not just for the exercise of reading.thanks for any and all suggestions....
