Our site has recently been hacked and by an Islamic group and I cant seem to figurre out how they've done this and if it's something we can easly fix it. Unregistered as username

If someone registers with the username of Unregistered then no unregistered users can post without specifically choosing a username other than Unregistered. Is there anyway I can reserve this username for guests? I added it to the list of vBulletin Options -> Illegal User Names, but now of course it says that the username is prohibited (or in use)....
